The City of Ventura’s Environmental Sustainability Division will be explaining and eliciting input regarding the Energy Action Plan at Thursday’s Midtown Ventura Community Council Meeting.
The plan is in the process of being crafted and community engagement is vital. They will also announce t
he new web-based and mobile application for Recycling and Waste Diversion for Ventura to identify what to do and where to go for all their recycling needs. They will share what the city is doing to prevent food waste prevention and have some reusable cloth produce bags and straws hand out.
Also on the agenda will be a presentation by Jennifer Duston Board member of the Ventura Police Community Foundation (VCPF). The VPCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support programs that will improve the quality of life and safety in our community, including the Police Activities League (PAL) afterschool programs, police volunteers and community safety programs, and obtaining equipment and technology to support the police department.
There will also be an update on the Friday, May 18 Food Truck Friday event which MVCC and the Pacific View Mall will be dedicating to Ventura County Personnel responders of the Thomas Fire and the recovery including the Fire and Sheriff’s Departments, Animal Control Services and the Office of Emergency Services who will have an interactive booth to provide informational assistance to residents.
Ventura County Fair staff are also being honored for the long hours they spent away from their families touring December to staff the fairgrounds during the emergency. The family-oriented event is from 5 to 9 p.m. near Trader Joe’s at the Pacific View Mall.
