Meet Ventura’s new City Manager and get an update on the city’s current and future water needs at Thursday’s Midtown Ventura Community Council meeting.

AlexMcIntyreVentura City Manager Alex McIntyre will stop by and talk about his new role with the city. McIntyre was the city manager for Menlo Park in Northern California before accepting the same position in Ventura last November.

McIntyre takes over a city that is in better financial shape thanks to the voter-approved Measure O sales tax measure. But Ventura also faces challenges including rebuilding after the Thomas Fire, aging infrastructure and addressing the ongoing drought.

While the recent rains have helped, Ventura County remains in an extreme drought, according to the United States Drought Monitor. Ventura Water Assistant General Manager Susan Rungren will present what’s happening with water in Ventura. Rungren will discuss the city’s strategy to meet current and future water needs.

The Ventura Police Department will also stop by to update any crime issues in midtown Ventura.

The meeting starts at 7 pm in Cooper Hall, adjacent to Grace Church, 65 MacMillan Avenue. For more information, contact Chair Karen Flock at 805-850-2591.
