UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution and recommendations from local and state officials, the MVCC general meeting for March 12 has been cancelled. We'll provide updates from the speakers on our Facebook page.

......

At our general meeting on Thursday, March 12, we will hear about a variety of issues including an update on the Novel Coronavirus, a presentation about human trafficking and a look at the new Coastline Ventura luxury apartments above Highway 101.

There are so many things going on in our lives these days, none the least of these is everyone’s concern over the Novel Coronavirus, Covid-19. The virus numbers and locations of outbreaks are changing daily and it is Coastal webimportant to get the latest updates and correct information to help alleviate fears that we may have. The best way to do that is to have accurate and complete as possible transparent information.

Ventura County Public Information Officer Ashley Bautista will be first on the agenda to bring us the latest updates, including precautions we should be taking according to Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin. Stay up to date on the current situation at www.vcemergency.com.

The second item on our agenda will be an important issue our Board wanted to learn more about and share with the community, Human Trafficking.

Detective Corporal Quinn Redeker leads the Special Victim’s Unit for the Ventura Police Department. The Special Victim’s Unit handles investigating Human Trafficking cases and Detective Cpl. Redeker will be presenting information on Human Trafficking at our meeting. He will discuss what is human tracking, what human trafficking looks like in Ventura County and how to combat it. He will answer any questions after his presentation.

Wrapping up the evening will be Michael Borja of Bell Partners Inc., whose company is building the Coastline Ventura luxury apartments above the freeway on Sanjon Road. Mr. Borja is the Community and Site Oversight Manager for the project. I have been asked so many questions about this project and it will be great to hear his presentation and provide answers inquiring minds would like to know.

The MVCC general meeting starts at 7 pm at Cooper Hall at Grace Church, 75 MacMillan Avenue.
