CMH UpdateThe upcoming Ventura County Fair, homelessness in midtown Ventura and what will happen to Main Street once construction on Community Memorial Hospital is completed are among the topics for the Midtown Ventura Community Council meeting on Thursday, July 9.

Barbara Quaid, CEO of the Ventura County Fairgrounds, is expected to talk about preparations for the fair, which runs Aug. 5-15 at Seaside Park. Quaid will also discuss the 31st District Agricultural Association and what revenues the events at the fairgrounds bring to the community.

Quaid will have WOW passes for sale after the meeting along with carnival presale ticket sheets. The presale items are a great way for a family on a budget to attend the fair.

School Project Unveiled

Loma Vista School in VenturaWork will begin Saturday, May 17, on the MVCC’s improvement project at the Loma Vista Elementary School.

Numerous volunteers will start clearing the front of the school for the installation of a California Coastal Native Garden. The Midtown Ventura Community Council is leading the project with the support of numerous community organizations.

The school was selected because it had to recently remove a 60-year-old pine tree that was diseased.
